The Community Development Department includes the following divisions: Economic Development and Planning & Zoning, Building, and Environmental Health. The department is responsible for building permits and inspections, Business licenses, code enforcement, long range planning, rental housing licensing, sign regulations and zoning.
The Finance Department is responsible for utility (water/sewer/refuse) payments, vehicle stickers, citation (parking and compliance) payments, real estate transfer tax, food and beverage tax, the annual financial report and village budget.
The Fire Department provides emergency medical services and protects people, property and the environment by reducing and controlling fire loss, emergency preparedness and engaging in fire prevention and public education.
The Human Services Department offers a wide variety of services and programs to meet the needs of its residents. The majority of services are offered at both our Village Hall location (50 S. Emerson St.) and at the Community Connections Center (1711 W. Algonquin Rd.). A number of staff members are bilingual in English/Spanish.
The Police Department serves to safeguard freedom by preserving life and property, protecting the constitutional rights of all individuals, maintaining order and encouraging respect for the rule of law by the proper enforcement thereof.
The Public Works Department is responsible to maintain all municipally owned streets and sidewalks, snow removal and ice control, solid waste and recycling, water, storm sewers, street light outages, parkway trees, traffic engineering and infrastructure improvements.
Village Administration Department includes the following divisions: Village Manager's Office, Village Clerk's Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Communications. The department is responsible for Freedom of Information Requests, Liquor Licenses, the Village Code, Ordinances, Resolutions, Voter Registration and the Village Newsletter.
