The Village of Mount Prospect conducts an annual street resurfacing program to maintain the quality and safety of the overall roadway network.  In addition to street resurfacing, the program replaces damaged sidewalks, curbs, and drainage structures.

In 2026, we are scheduled to resurface and improve 6.99 miles of the overall 137 miles of roadway within the Village network.  The 2026 Program is divided into 2 projects, Group 1 and Group 2.  The Group 1 project will improve 3.69 miles of roadway.  The Group 2 project is coordinated with the Water Main Improvement project and consists of 3.3 miles of roadway.

What Type of Work Will be Completed?

  • Repair storm inlets and catch basins.
  • Replace deteriorated curbs, sidewalk squares and sidewalk ramps.
  • Restore portions of driveway aprons that are removed due to construction activities.
  • Restore parkways disturbed by construction with topsoil and seed.
  • Mill existing pavement to proposed depth.
  • Replace pavement with new asphalt.
  • Restore pavement markings to road surface.

 

WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT

In conjunction with our resurfacing program, Public Works water and sewer will be replacing water mains on the following Group 2 resurfacing roadways: 

  1. S. School Street (Northwest Highway – Busse)
  2. S. Wa Pella Avenue (Lincoln – Central)
  3. S. Tower Lane (Tower Dr – end of cul-de-sac)
  4. S.  Tamarack Drive (Catalpa – Willow)
  5. W. Willow Lane (Tamarack – Busse)
  6. W. Willow Lane (Busse – Church)
  7. S. Redwood Drive (Dempster – Cottonwood)
  8. W. Cottonwood Lane (Redwood – Linneman

Please note that the water main work will occur first and once complete, be followed by the Group 2 resurfacing project.  Any outstanding restoration, curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway and drainage work will be completed by the resurfacing project.

- N Elm St (Central Rd to E Thayer St)
- N Louis St (Central Rd to Rand Rd)

April 2026 - Construction to Start

October 2026 - Substantial Completion

November 2026 - Final Completion
