With the online system, say goodbye to paper permits and paper applications. Instead, you can apply, submit verification, pay, and manage permit(s) digitally. The system uses license plate numbers as virtual permits. We will not accept paper applications for these permits because the paper system has been replaced with a digital system.

Technology and Payment Requirements

To use the online permit system, you must be able to upload electronic versions of your supporting documents. 2 MB is the maximum size for files. The online permit system supports the upload of:

  • PDFs
  • Images - JPG, PNG

Additional requirements are access to computer or smart device. The online permit system is compatible with Google Chrome and the latest version of Microsoft Edge.

The online permit system accepts the following payment types:

  • Credit card: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express 
  • Debit card

We do not accept cash.

Refunds will not be issued once a permit has been processed. 

Gather Supporting Documents

Proof of Residence Applicants for the Commuter Resident,  Emerson Overnight, Maple Overnight and Overnight Visitor permits must provide proof of residence (residency requirements are defined under each permit type below).  Documents accepted as proof  are bank statement, credit card bill or Utility bill.  The proof must be dated within 30 days of the application and include the applicant's name and address.  Copies of e-bills are acceptable.   The proof of residence will be uploaded with your application.  PDF or .JPEG or supported document types. 

Proof of Business Applicants applying for the Downtown Business permit must provide proof of an active business within the downtown business district by submitting the current business license # with the application.

Prepare and Apply

  1. Login and make your profile. You can opt to receive SMS  and email notifications related to your permit. Expect to see some emails come from CaleWebOffice@calesystems.com. 
  2. Select your permit type.  See a list of permit types and descriptions below. 
  3. Upload electronic versions of supporting documentation. You will be prompted on which documents to upload. 2 MB is the maximum size for files.
  4. You will be notified within two (2) business days if your application has been approved. If approved, you will be prompted to make your payment through the online permit system. Please view one of the tutorials to view the payment process.
  5. Once approved, you are authorized to park your vehicle in lots assigned to your permit type. Your permit is tied to your license plate. 
  6. Manage your permits if you need to. You can update license plates, buy more permits, renew a permit and make other changes all through the online permit system.
  7. Entering license plates: Do not include dashes, spaces, or names of other states when entering in license plate information. If you have a specialty plate that includes two or three vertical letters to the right of the plate number, those letters must be included as part of the license plate number.   If you have a truck plate, you do not need to include the letter B or D that is to the right of the plate number.

Permit Types Available for Purchase Online

$40.00 per calendar month

This permit is available only to Mount Prospect Residents.  Residency/addresses will be verified for compliance.  You will be required to submit a copy of a utility bill that is in your name.  Acceptable proof of residency is a bank statement, credit card bill or Utility bill.  The proof must be dated within 30 days of the application and include the applicant's name and address.  Copies of e-bills are acceptable. 

Please allow two (2) business days for verification of residency. 

The permit will enable the permit holder to park at the following locations; Maple Street Parking Deck, Prospect Avenue Commuter on street parking, East and West commuter lots, Emerson Street Deck (spaces 901-951), and Wille Street lot (signed Easy Park spots).   This permit allows permit holders to park at the aforementioned lots Monday – Friday between the hours of 5am – 6pm.  Parking between the hours of 6pm – 2am during the week and all day Saturday and Sunday  is free.

This permit is available to non-Mount Prospect residents.  The permit will enable the permit holder to park at the following locations; East and West commuter lots, Emerson Street Deck (spaces 901-951), and Wille Street Lot (signed Easy Park spaces).  This permit allows permit holders to park at the aforementioned lots Monday –Friday between the hours of 5am – 6pm.  Parking between the hours of 6pm – 2am during the week and all-day weekend is free.

Each application will allow for the purchase of one permit for one calendar month.  You cannot purchase multiple calendar months under one application.  Prior to expiration of the current permit the permitting system will send a notification that the permit is due to expire.   To receive notifications go to personal settings and enable email or text notifications.

This permit is available only to multi-family residents of downtown Mount Prospect. Residency/addresses will be verified for compliance. You will be required to submit a copy of a current utility bill with your name.  Acceptable proof of residency is a bank statement, credit card bill or Utility bill.  The proof must be dated within 30 days of the application and include the applicant's name and address.  Copies of e-bills are acceptable. 

Please allow two (2) business days for verification of residency. 

Only one permit may be purchased per address for a particular month. There is a limit of 50 permits available per month. The system will not accept a payment if the 50 permit/month limit has been reached. Permits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Emerson Street Parking Deck Overnight Parking permits are valid for parking at the Emerson Street Parking Deck (30 S. Emerson Street), spaces 197 to 267 only. Permits are valid for the month purchased, starting the first of said month and expiring on the last day of said month. One permit per month, per address, may be issued. A permit is valid only for the specific vehicle indicated on the associated permit application. Only one vehicle may be entered into the system at this time. The permit fee is $90 per month. Village reserves the right to modify permit fees. No refunds will be issued for any approved/processed permit applications.

For employers with a business located in downtown Mount Prospect; no cost for the permit

This permit is only available to employers with a business located in downtown Mount Prospect.

The Village has an online permitting system which allows your employer to register your vehicle for free parking in either the Emerson Street Parking Deck (spaces 120-196 and 268-281), along the north side of W. Prospect Avenue, between Pine Street and Hi Lusi Avenue, and in the Wille Street lot and alley, just south of W. Prospect Avenue between Pine and Wille Streets. Consult with your employer to take advantage of this parking permit.

This permit is available only to multi-family residents of downtown Mount Prospect.  Downtown residents who have a weekend visitor can apply for the Visitor Parking Permit, which allows five (5) consecutive business days of free overnight  parking in the Emerson Street Parking Deck (weekend parking is free and does not require a permit).  A maximum of four (4) permits may be issued per address per year.   No more than two (2) consecutive five (5) day passes can be used at a time.   Residency/addresses will be verified for compliance. You will be required to submit documentation to prove residency.  Acceptable proof of residency is a bank statement, credit card bill or Utility bill in the applicants name.  The proof must be dated within 30 days of the application and include the applicant's name and address.  Copies of e-bills are acceptable.   The Mount Prospect resident is required to submit permit application on behalf of their visitor.

There is a limit of 10 permits available per month.  Permit applications submitted after the maximum of 10 permits have been issued will be denied.  Permits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Permits are valid for the month purchased, starting the first of said month and expiring on the last day of said month.  A permit is valid only for the specific vehicle (visitor license plate information) indicated on the associated permit application.
