Gregory Street Lighting Project

Project Overview:

A key component of the Mount Prospect Strategic Plan established by the Village Board of Trustees is to improve the Village’s residential street light system. Each year, the Village evaluates residential streets to determine a location that will benefit from having street lights. As part of this project, street lights will be installed on Gregory Street between Waterman Avenue and IL 83 (Main Street).  The street lights will be silver aluminum poles with LED luminaires, like the ones installed between Highland Street and Kensington Road on Forest Avenue through to Wille Street. They will typically be installed at intersections and spaced approximately every 300’. Old ComEd lights on wood poles that currently exist along the project route will be removed at the end of the project.

Gregory Street was chosen for this year’s project based on a few factors. Both Fairview Elementary School and Meadows Park generate a lot of pedestrian activity along the street. In addition, Gregory Street is classified as a collector street, a neighborhood street that carries more traffic than other local streets. And finally, schools often experience traffic congestion during the morning and afternoon, and occasionally at evening events. These factors make the street the preferred choice for this year’s street light project.
