Section 457 deferred compensation plans allows public sector employees the opportunity to build retirement savings through tax-deferred and ROTH contributions.

IRS Contribution Limits

The maximum amount you can contribute to your 457 plan(s) effective January 1, 2026 is:

  • Standard limit - $24,500 ($23,500 in 2025)
  • Age 50+ catch up limit: $32,500 ($31,000 in 2025)
  • 3 Year pre-retirement catch up limit - $49,000 ($47,000 in 2025)
