[Update October 10, 2019]
The Village of Mount Prospect was advised on March 8, 2019, that the Chicago Executive Airport Board decided they will no longer explore runway expansion beyond the current boundaries as part of the on-going Master Planning process. This topic was discussed in detail at the Village Committee of the Whole meeting held Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Burning Bush Trails Park.
The Village would like to thank Court Harris and all CEA Board members for recognizing Mount Prospect residents as stakeholders and taking expansion off the table. The Village extends thanks to the leadership in the City of Prospect Heights and the Village of Wheeling for supporting this decision. The Village also extends sincere appreciation to all residents who actively engaged in this issue and attended the Committee of the Whole meeting Tuesday night, March 12.
Residents should continue to access the Village website Transparency and Fact Check portal for updates on the CEA Master Plan.
The Village will continue to do our best to keep residents informed of public engagement opportunities. It is important that the airport management hear from residents directly; any residents interested in this topic should relay comments/ concerns directly with airport staff - See "Provide Feedback", below.
The Village is a participant in the Chicago Executive Airport (CEA) Master Plan Update through the Mayor's membership in the Stakeholder Involvement Group. This portal will serve as a method to share information of interest to Village residents; the Village will be sharing information as it becomes available, including information from the Village of Wheeling and the CEA Board.
Note, the CEA Master Plan Update is a planning exercise and no future action is yet proposed. Much analysis and engineering for the various options, including accounting for the public’s concerns, is still to be undertaken.
Note: the Village is not hosting or managing the sound insulation meeting; please refer questions to the contact below.
