Recreational Cannabis

By legalizing the sale of recreational cannabis in Illinois effective January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act ("Act") will have immediate and significant impacts on local governments. 

As a result, the Village must make some policy decisions, including whether to allow recreational cannabis business establishments at all.  Chicago Executive Airport Master Plan

The Village is a participant in the Chicago Executive Airport (CEA) Master Plan Update through the Mayor's membership in the Stakeholder Involvement Group. This portal page will serve as a method to share information of interest to Village residents. Page updated October 10, 2019.

Central and Main Proposed Redevelopment

Now under construction. First Equity Group, LLC and Harlem Irving Companies are proposing a multi-family redevelopment of the property at the northwest corner of Central Rd and Main Street. The project received a positive recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission and approval from the Village Board at their March 5, 2019 Village Board Meeting. See related News item.  Page updated July 30, 2019.

Maple Street Lofts - E. Prospect Ave & Maple St.

At the April 9, 2019 Village Board Meeting, the Village Board approved a Conditional Use for a Final Planned Unit Development and a Redevelopment Agreement for the Maple Street Lofts project, both by the vote of 5-1.   

Downtown Transportation and Parking Studies

There was a Committee of the Whole on the discussion of these studies on November 13, 2018, and additional action taken at the January 15, 2019 Village Board meeting to implement parts of the studies. Page updated January 22, 2019.

Edwin and Elsie (Meyn) Busse Park [Busse Pocket Park]

Village Strategic Plan 

The Village held strategic planning workshops on February 11 and 12, 2019 for the 2019 Strategic Plan.

Learn about the Village's Strategic Planning process and associated documents, which help prioritize projects for Village Departments throughout the year.  View the 2019 Policy Agenda , which includes Targets for Action as determined by the Village Board, as well as those priorities identified by the Village Manager. The complete Leaders Guide for 2019 serves as a policy handbook for Village staff to reference throughout the year, ensuring that  staff efforts are focused on specific, prioritized projects.

Busse Road Improvement Study by Cook County

This Phase I engineering study is being initiated by Cook County to examine potential improvements along Busse Road between Golf and Central Roads. Page updated November 8, 2019.

Community Survey

The Village conducted a resident survey in September 2016 with the assistance of a consultant, ETC Institute. The survey asked residents to rate their experiences with Village services, programs and community outreach. The results of this survey was presented to the Village board in November of 2016. Freedom of Information Requests

To request public records from the Village, please use our CRM portal.  Choose the appropriate FOIA category, fill out the fields completely and submit.  It will be routed to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer. Village staff will reply within five days. Learn more...

 

Lobbying / Advocacy Information

The Village of Mount Prospect does not engage in any direct legislative lobbying through a paid lobbyist or lobby firm. However, Village Board members and staff participate in a variety of professional organizations and intergovernmental cooperatives.
