Benefit Information

Medical Insurance - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois
HMO, Traditional PPO, Traditional PPO, or High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). please use one of the contacts above to to request a benefits comparison for monthly premium costs.  All health insurance plans include prescription coverage through Express Scripts.

Flex Spending Medical and Dependent Care - Wex
Wex offers employees the option of setting aside pre-tax dollars for out-of-pocket dependent care, dental, vision, medical, transportation and parking expenses. The maximum limits are updated yearly as per the IRS Regulations and Guidelines.

Life Insurance - Securian Life Insurance
On behalf of the employee, the Village purchases a basic term life insurance policy that equals one-times the employee’s annual earnings.  (The policy is rounded to the nearest $1,000 and has a minimum amount of $50,000). There is an option for the employee to purchase up to an additional $300,000 in life insurance, $50,000 for their spouse, and $10,000 for their children at group rates.

Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF)
This plan provides qualified employees with a system for the payment of retirement, disability, and death benefits. The retirement benefit is based on final salary and years of service credit.

Employees hired before 2011 are eligible for Tier One, all other eligible employees will be Tier Two. 
Deferred Compensation 457 Plans - ICMA/Mission Square & Nationwide 
Employees have the option of joining the Mission Square 457 (formerly ICMA-RC) or Nationwide 457 plans to supplement retirement savings using pre-tax or Roth contributions.

Retirement Health Savings
The Village's Mission Square administered RHS plan allows employees to have revenue, in various forms, contributed to their established account tax-deferred and to have eligible health care expenses reimbursed tax free. In taking advantage of this tax free opportunity to help pay for medical insurance upon retirement the Village has structured a plan that consists of a mandatory funding requirement at retirement as defined by the Village of Mount Prospect and mandatory funding per specified group participation Similar to the 457 plans, employees will need to direct their monies within their RHS account according to their comfort level of investing.

College Savings Program - Bright Start
Village employees have the opportunity to participate in the Bright Start 529 College Savings benefit. The Bright start program an be used to pay fora  wide range of qualifying higher education costs. Please use the link HERE to visit Bright Start's website and learn more!

Dental Insurance - Delta Dental

Vision Insurance -  VSP
VSP is the stand-alone vision plan offered by the Village of Mount Prospect. VSP participants can create an account on vsp.com to view your in-network (VSP Choice) coverage or to find a VSP network doctor.
