The Village will be installing new sidewalk sections along the north side of Golf Road between Maple Street and Mt. Prospect Road to fill in gaps in the sidewalk system.  One section will be between Maple Street and Elm Street.  Another section will be between William Street and Mt. Prospect Road.  A construction contract has been awarded to Schroeder & Schroeder, Inc. and it is expected that construction will begin in early July and be completed in early August, weather permitting.

What Kind of Work Will Be Completed?

In general, the project will include:

  • Stake out of the project to establish line and grade.
  • Removal of trees.
  • Excavation and installation of drainage structures.
  • Excavation and installation of formwork for the new sidewalk.
  • Installation of stone base for the new sidewalk.
  • Pouring of concrete for the new sidewalk.
  • Repair of driveways removed during construction.
  • Restoration with topsoil and sod of the parkway areas damaged during the construction activities.
  • Planting of new trees.

What about access to my driveway?
Because the sidewalk crosses thru driveways, there will be times when you will not have access to your driveway.  You will receive notification prior to the work.  When your driveway access is interrupted, you can expect to be without access for 10 days.  Please allow at least three (3) full days before driving over the new concrete.  During this time that you cannot access your driveway, you will be permitted to park on Village streets within the immediate area of your home.  Please note that Golf Road is a State of Illinois road and noparking is allowed.  If you have special needs due to a disability or you discover that your sidewalk has been removed with your vehicle still in the driveway, please contact the Public Works Department.

Will services to my home be affected?
There will be no changes in your regular services such as garbage pick-up, leaf pick-up, mail delivery, or emergency services. Please use caution when driving and walking through the construction zone.  If you have a sprinkler system, invisible dog fence, decorative landscaping or brick pavers, please notify the Public Works department.
What time will construction start each day?
The contractor is allowed to start work at 7am and must stop work by 7pm.
