Project Overview

In the fall of 2025, The Village of Arlington Heights started the installation of sanitary sewer pipe along Algonquin Road from Busse Road to Cedar Glen Drive. The project limits also include work along Dempster Street between Busse Road and Algonquin Road. The project will replace approximately 2,500 feet of sanitary sewer with a larger-diameter pipe to increase the capacity of the system. All affected private sanitary sewer service lines will be connected to the new sewer. The Village of Arlington Heights and the contractor will coordinate the reconnection of private service lines with affected businesses.

Project Updates

April 7, 2026

Work is expected to resume the week of April 15th and be completed in Summer 2026.

March 16, 2026

The Algonquin Sewer Capacity Improvement Project starts on April 15, 2026. This is a continuation of last year’s project to increase the size of the sanitary sewer from Dempster Road to South Cedar Glen Avenue.

Please be advised, lane closures are planned for Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as the project enters its final phase. Advanced warning message boards will be posted beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

The road closure will be for the west bound traffic lanes from Busse Road to Dempster Street, advancing west, as construction progresses, from Dempster Street to the west. The project and closure are anticipated to be completed by August 1, 2026, provided no significant issues and weather permitting.
