Economic Development and Planning & Zoning
The Economic Development and Planning & Zoning Division encourages new business development through various economic development programs and administers zoning and development codes to ensure orderly development within the Village.  This includes: review of permits for zoning compliance; processing of zoning applications through the Planning and Zoning Commission; the creation and application of the Village's Comprehensive Plan and other long-range planning documents; and the administration of the Community Development Block Grant program.

The Green Buildings Grant Program provides up to $10,000 to qualifying businesses, commercial or industrial property owners for the installation of energy conservation technology. The program covers up to 50% of eligible project costs. If your project decreases net total energy consumption, it may be grant eligible. Examples of eligible project include Green Roofs, Rooftop Solar Panels, Geothermal Installation, Rainwater Harvesting, and Micro Wind Turbines. Building & Inspection Services
The Building & Inspection Services Division reviews building plans, issues permits, and performs the necessary inspections to ensure adherence to proper construction and design codes.  In addition, this division is responsible for protecting and improving the health and well-being of Village residents. Duties include residential and commercial code enforcement, rental licensing registration, and health, housing, and property maintenance inspections.
