Mount Prospect's Electric Aggregation Program ended August 2017.
All resident and small business accounts in the program were returned to ComEd. The Village sought bids to renew the program; however, bids received did not insure savings compared to ComEd’s summer rate and projected winter (2017-2018) rate.
|Lowest Bid Rate|| ComEd's Summer "Price to Compare" Rate
(June 2017 - Sept. 2017)
|ComEd's Winter "Price to Compare" Rate
(Oct. 2017 - May 2018)
|6.98¢ per kWh||6.892¢ per kWh||7.151¢ per kWh|
*An average single family homeowner who participated in the Village’s electric aggregation program which started in 2012 would have realized about $135 in savings and the community as a whole saved $3 million.
For questions about the Village's expired electric aggregation program, you may contact the Northern Illinois Municipal Electric Collaborative (NIMEC) at 800-727-3820 or the Village at 847-392-6000.
Retail Electric Suppliers
You may also select your own retail electric supplier. Visit www.PluginIllinois.org to find a listing of electric suppliers and ComEd’s rates. When considering any offer or solicitation review price, plan type (fixed or variable), additional monthly fees, contract length, early termination fees, etc.
Please note: Electric aggregation information is only shared through official Village communications (direct mail, newsletter, website, etc). No one from the Village or an aggregation program supplier would contact you by phone or in person.
Should you receive a solicitation from someone claiming to be associated with the Village or the Village’s supplier, report the solicitor to the Illinois Commerce Commission at www.icc.illinois.gov/complaints or (800-524-0795) and inform the Village.
Also, it is recommended not to share your ComEd account number with a solicitor, unless you have decided to move to that electric supplier. Unscrupulous solicitors may attempt to switch your supplier if they learn the account number.
