Mount Prospect Kindness Week 2025

See the Good. Be the Good. Go the Extra Mile.

Let’s come together to celebrate the power of kindness! The Village of Mount Prospect and the Special Events

Commission proudly present the first-ever Kindness Week, a weeklong celebration encouraging residents to see the good, be the good, and go the extra mile in our community.

We’re kicking things off right here at the Mount Prospect Public Library on Saturday, November 8, from 10 am to 2 pm with registration activities. During the week, you can visit three Mt. Prospect Park District locations, either the RecPlex, Central Community Center, and Friendship Park Conservatory to pick up a Kindness Bingo Card and Kindness Recognition Cards. Wrap up the week by handing in your bingo card at the Busse Pocket Park and collaboratively create a collage of the kindness activities.

Whether it’s writing thank-you notes, donating to local causes, or simply sharing a smile, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. Let’s fill Mount Prospect with kindness, one day at a time!

Kindness Week Details

During Kindness Week, residents are encouraged to complete a Kindness Bingo challenge. The bingo card is filled with acts of kindness like donating to the food pantry, attending the Veterans Day ceremony, writing notes to first responders, or simply saying hello to a neighbor.

Those who complete a row of bingo can turn it in for the chance to win a prize! Return your bingo card by Saturday, November 22, and be entered to win. Scroll on to see where you can get and return a bingo card.

Another cornerstone of this initiative is “kindness cards.” These free cards are meant to be shared with people in the community who exhibited kindness and then passed on to someone else. Scroll on to see where you can get kindness cards.

If you missed the chance to get a "kindness kit" at the Library kickoff, below are locations you can pick up a bingo card and/or kindness cards.

Libraries
- Recommend a favorite book to someone
- Create a kindness bookmark and give to a neighbor
- Attend a library event during Kindness Week
- Check out a book about doing good in the world
Parks and Recreation
- Leave kindness sayings in chalk
- Pick up after animals
- Pick up trash
Schools
- Restock books in school mini libraries with age-appropriate books.
- Nominate a local educator for the Mount Prospect Village Shining Stars award.
- Bring a small treat or coffee to a school’s main office.
- Post a positive message about a teacher or staff member on social media (tag the district or school!).
- Write and mail a thank-you note to a school's staff.
Veterans
- Attend a Veterans Day Parade or event
- Offer to help with yard chores
- Offer to take to appointments
- Write a thank you note and send to the VFW & Legion
- Support veteran-owned businesses
First Responders (EMTs, firefighters, police officers, etc.)
