Police Department Arrest Subject For Multiple Criminal Trespass to Vehicle Cases

On Wednesday April 29, 2020, the Mount Prospect Police Department arrested Jamal Perteete, 28 years old, of 1501 W. Cottonwood Lane, Mount Prospect, Illinois. Perteete was charged with two felony counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, two felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, one felony count of Burglary to Motor Vehicle and eight misdemeanor counts of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle. These charges all stem from a 911 call of a burglary to motor vehicle investigation in the parking lot of the 1300 block of Sir Lancelot Lane.

On April 29, 2020 at approximately 5:10 AM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to the area of 1304 Sir Lancelot for a 911 call of an in progress burglary to motor vehicle.   Upon arrival, officers located a person matching the description, running away from the area. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was detained. A witness positively identified Jamal Perteete as the suspect in a burglary to motor vehicle. Perteete was taken into custody and transported to the Mount Prospect Police Station. Mount Prospect Police Detectives executed a search warrant on Perteete’s home, which resulted in locating two handguns that were taken from burglary to motor vehicle cases.

Perteete was transported to a Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a bond hearing on April 30, 2020, where his bond was set at $30,000.00 “D”. The next court date for Perteete is set for May 13, 2020, at the Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows in room 108 at 10:30 AM.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
