Prospect Avenue Road Closure Begins Week of Oct. 29

Post Date:10/29/2018 2:12 PM
The Village of Mount Prospect will be replacing water main along Prospect Avenue between Emerson Street and Maple Street. Construction on Prospect Avenue will start during the week of October 29. Installation of the new pipe should be completed by the week of November 5. After the pipe is installed, water service lines will be connected to the new main and street paving will follow.

Due to multiple underground utility conflicts, the water main on Prospect Avenue from Emerson to Maple Street will be installed by open cutting the road.

Temporary road closures of Prospect Avenue from Emerson Street to Maple Street will be necessary. However, the road will be open to 2-way traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours. Residents and businesses in the area should be aware that there may be times during the day when construction activities temporarily block access to driveways as the new water main is installed. The Public Works Department will try to make these interruptions as short as possible. The Police Department will also relax overnight parking restrictions while driveways are not accessible. If residents have special needs due to a disability, please contact the Public Works Department.

Residents should also be aware that there will be a short disruption (usually less than 20 minutes) when their water service will be transferred to the new water main. Residents will receive notification prior to the service transfer.

Please use caution when driving through the construction zone.

For more information, please call the Public Works Department (847) 870-5640 or email to publicworksdept@mountprospect.org.
