The Human Services Department is excited to announce the upcoming Family Health Fair happening on Wednesday, August 5, from 6-7:30 pm at the Busse Pocket Park across from Village Hall (50 S. Emerson St.). This free community event is dedicated to empowering families toward a healthier future. 

Originally scheduled for June, the annual Mental Health Matters event was canceled due to inclement weather. To ensure our community continues to have vital access to local mental health resources, the Human Services Department has combined Mental Health Matters with the Family Health Fair to form one comprehensive evening focused on total family wellness. 

“Healthy Families, a Stronger Community” is the theme of the evening, which will feature a wide array of local resources and interactive activities designed to be fun for the entire family. 

Event highlights include:

• Early Arrival Incentives: The first 150 attendees will receive a complimentary treat from Kona Ice.
• Health Screenings: The Mount Prospect Lions Club will be on-site providing free vision and hearing screenings.
• Education and Awareness: Parents and community members can tour the HERO (Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization) Hidden in Plain Sight trailer, an interactive mobile exhibit designed to help adults recognize signs of substance abuse and hidden dangers in a teenager's environment.
• Family Engagement: Attendees can meet therapy animals and enjoy free face painting.
• Resource Connections: Families will have the opportunity to connect directly with various health and wellness organizations.

By combining our efforts, we are making it easier than ever for families to access the support and information they need in a fun, welcoming environment," said Nicole Cooper-Ffrench, the Village’s Public Health Nurse. "Taking care of our mental well-being is just as vital as our physical health. Bringing these resources together makes it easier for our community to connect, heal, and grow together."

The fun continues after the Family Health Fair with a ‘Movies on the Green’ screening, hosted by the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association. Bring a chair or blanket and find a spot on the Centennial Green to watch Zootopia 2, beginning no later than 8 pm.
