On April 7, 2026, at approximately 7:05 AM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to a home in the 1700 block of East Camp McDonald Road for a delayed report of an attempted burglary to motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the victim related that when she went out to her Chevrolet Camaro which was parked in her driveway to leave for work, she noticed items from the glovebox were now on the floor of the car. The victim also noticed that the driver’s door of the Camaro was stuck and unable to open. The victim then reviewed video from her security cameras where she observed at approximately 5:20 AM, two vehicles pulled up in front of her home and five people wearing masks exited and approached her Camaro. Two of the masked subjects appear to be holding handguns and may have been acting as lookouts as two of the other masked subjects entered her vehicle. The victim related that the masked offenders all returned to their vehicles a short time later and drove away, eastbound on Camp McDonald Road. The victim related that nothing appeared to be missing from her vehicle, but the inside of the driver’s door was damaged.
The two offender’s vehicles are described as:
Suspect vehicle 1: light colored sedan, unknown registration
Suspect vehicle 2: dark colored SUV, unknown registration
The five suspects are described as:
Suspect 1: possibly white unknown gender, wearing a black colored hoodie, black colored pants, black colored shoes, black colored gloves and a black mask covering their face.
Suspect 2: possibly white unknown gender, wearing dark colored hoodie, black colored pants, and black colored shoes.
Suspect 3: possibly white unknown gender, gray colored hoodie, dark colored pants, and black colored gloves.
Suspect 4: possibly white unknown gender, black colored jacked with a hood, gray colored pants, white colored shoes, and carrying a black colored handgun.
Suspect 5: possibly white unknown gender, light green colored hoodie, dark colored pants, black mask, and carrying a black colored handgun.
The Mount Prospect Police Department continues to actively investigate this incident and is asking anyone who has information regarding this crime to call the Mount Prospect Police Department’s Investigations Section at 847-870-5654. The police department will have an increased presence in the area.
The Mount Prospect Police Department would like to remind the community, for safety purposes, not to confront anyone who is breaking into their vehicle. Instead, we recommend getting to a safe location and calling 911 immediately.
