The Village of Arlington Heights, will resume construction on the Algonquin Road Sanitary Sewer Project beginning the week of April 15. The project includes replacing approximately 2,500 feet of sanitary sewer pipe along Algonquin Road from Busse Road to Cedar Glen Drive, along with improvements on Dempster Street between Busse Road and Algonquin Road.
This infrastructure upgrade will increase system capacity and improve long-term reliability. All affected private sanitary sewer service lines will be reconnected to the new system, with coordination to minimize inconvenience to residents and businesses.
Construction will occur in phases through summer 2026, with the following schedule and traffic impacts:
- April 15 – April 30 (Phase I): Work on Algonquin Road from Busse Road to Dempster Street. Westbound Algonquin Road traffic will be detoured via Busse Road, Golf Road, and Arlington Heights Road.
- May 1 – May 15 (Phase II): Work at the Algonquin Road and Dempster Street intersection. Detours will impact westbound Algonquin Road and both eastbound and westbound Dempster Street traffic. Westbound lanes on Algonquin Road and Dempster Street detoured to northbound Busse Road, westbound Golf Road, southbound Arlington Heights Road. with routes directing vehicles to Busse Road, Golf Road, Arlington Heights Road, and Elmhurst Road. Eastbound lanes on Dempster Street detoured to eastbound Algonquin Road, northbound Elmhurst Road.
- May 16 – June 30 (Phase III): Work continues on Algonquin Road from Dempster Street to Cedar Glen Drive. No full detours are expected, but westbound lane closures will be in place.
- July 1 – July 15 (Phase IV): Work on Dempster Street from Busse Road to Algonquin Road. Westbound Dempster Street traffic will be detoured via Busse Road and Algonquin Road.
- July/August (Phase V): Final cleanup and restoration.

Motorists should expect delays, follow posted detours, and allow additional travel time. The project is anticipated to be substantially complete by late summer 2026, with restoration activities continuing shortly thereafter.
