Engine 11 arrived on scene within six minutes and found flames coming from a manufactured home. The Des Plaines Fire Department assisted on scene.
One occupant was home at the time of the fire and was able to evacuate safely prior to the arrival of fire crews. The resident was transported to a local hospital as a precaution with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at approximately $35,000.
“Fires in manufactured home communities can be challenging due to limited water supply and how close the homes are to one another,” said Fire Chief Tom Wang. “Engine 11 was able to get water on the fire quickly and keep it from spreading to nearby homes.”Return to full list >>
