On January 21, 2026, the Mount Prospect Police Department charged Andres Morales Gonzalez, 35 years old, no permanent address, with one felony count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, one felony count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, one felony count of Aggravated Battery Involving Strangulation, and one felony count of Unlawful Restraint. These charges stem from an incident that occurred on January 17, 2026, in the 100 block of North Main Street (Route 83).

On January 17, 2026, at approximately 12:33 AM, Mount Prospect Police Officers responded to an address in the 100 block of North Main Street (Route 83) for a report of an unknown problem. Upon arrival, officers found a person trying to pull a male off a female on the ground. Officers were quickly able to gain control of the male and placed him in handcuffs. Officers learned through the initial investigation that the female victim was returning home when an unknown male, later identified as Andres Morales Gonzalez, tackled her from behind in the driveway. Morales Gonzalez proceeded to slam the female’s head into the pavement multiple times and then began strangling her with his arm while he was sexually assaulting her. The victim’s family heard her screaming and exited the home, discovering Morales Gonzalez on top of the victim. A family member was wrestling Morales Gonzalez off the victim when officers arrived on scene and were able to take him into custody. The victim was transported to a local hospital for her injuries from the attack, which were non-life threatening. The victim did not know Morales Gonzalez and had never seen him before.

After Morales Gonzalez was taken into custody, he was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. A Mount Prospect Police Officer remained with Morales Gonzalez until he was discharged from the hospital on January 21, 2026, and transported him back to the Mount Prospect Police Headquarters.

Mount Prospect Police Detectives reviewed the facts of the case with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on January 21, 2026, who approved charging Morales Gonzalez. He was charged with one felony count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, one felony count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, one felony count of Aggravated Battery Involving Strangulation, and one felony count of Unlawful Restraint. On January 22, 2026, he was transported to a detention hearing, where he was ordered detained until his next court date. Morales Gonzalez’s next court date is set for February 13, 2026, at 9:00 AM in room 108 of the 3rd District Court of Cook County in Rolling Meadows.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
