On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at approximately 5:32 PM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the business located at 403 East Euclid Avenue, El Amigo Carniceria. The preliminary investigation revealed a male entered the grocery store and displayed a black colored handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk attempted to exit the counter area but was blocked by the offender. The clerk gave the offender money from behind the counter and the offender fled the store with an undisclosed amount of United States Currency (USC). The offender left the area in a white colored SUV. The store clerk along with another employee in the store were not injured. There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.

Mount Prospect Police Detectives were able to identify the offender through video surveillance as Luis F. Chaga-Temich. He was taken into custody on November 21, 2025, outside his home in Des Plaines. A replica firearm and proceeds from the robbery were

recovered at the time of Chaga-Temich’s arrest. After reviewing the facts of the case with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Chaga-Temich was charged with one felony count of Armed Robbery with a Firearm and one felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Restraint. He was transported to a detention hearing where the detention petition was denied, and he was released.
