The Village is continually reviewing the safety and utilization of the crossing at Central Rd and Weller Lane. This page will be used to document most recent correspondence with the Illinois Department of Transportation, as well as provide any additional support related to the design of the crossing.
August 2018 Update: Central Road Resurfacing
IDOT is planning modifications to the Central/Weller pedestrian crossing as part of their own Central Road resurfacing project. These modifications are to include the addition of stop lines designed to inform motorists where they should stop prior to the crosswalk. There are other modifications planned along Central Road, such as ramp improvements.
Correspondence History Between IDOT and the Village
The Village has approached the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) on several occasions related to potential improvements to the crossing at Central Road and Weller Lane. Central Road is an IDOT roadway, and their participation is vital and approval is required.
