The first, and perhaps most important, step in the
Mount Prospect Cross Connection Control Program is a survey designed to
identify how each customer uses water. How customers use water can
be a strong indicator of the potential for contaminating drinking water
during a backflow incident.
As part of this effort, representatives from the
Public Works Department visit each commercial and/or industrial water
user and ask the owner of the premises or the operator of the business
to provide answers to a series of water-use questions.
The answers to these questions help Village staff to
determine whether cross connections, or the potential for cross
connections, exist on the premises. These questions can be viewed on our
Cross Connection Survey Form.
Questions or concerns about the survey process
should be directed to the
Superintendent of Water/Sewer.
The next step is Analysis
of collected survey information.
