Project Summary
The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is planning to replace approximately
2,378 linear feet of existing 4" and 6" diameter cast iron water main with 8”
diameter Class 56 ductile iron pipe water main. All of this work is slated to
take place in the Prospect Meadows subdivision (see
Prospect Meadows).
This project is the first phase of what is planned to be a multiple phase
project. The Village hopes to eventually replace all 8,100 feet of water main
in the Prospect Meadows area. However, all work performed this year will be
limited to the Phase 2 area (see
Phase 2). Future
phases will be programmed as funds allow.
This project will feature abandonment of the existing backyard water mains and
installation of new water mains in the street right-of-ways. The new water mains
will be installed in front of the houses just off the edge of the existing road
pavement (see New
Mains).
This project will also feature the reinstatement of approximately 66 water
service lines (see
New Water
Services).
The contractor is planning an accelerated schedule for this project (see
Schedule). He
hopes to start preliminary work the week of March 12 and substantially most of
the work by the late May. However, final restoration of landscaping and
pavements won't take place until weather warms in the Spring. Nevertheless, we
anticipate that entire project will be completed, and the neighborhood restored
to normal condition, by the middle of May.
