ARBOR DAY TREE PLANTING CEREMONY
The Village of Mount Prospect Public Works Department hosted the 2007 Arbor Day tree planting ceremony on Friday April 27 at Lions Park Elementary School.

During the ceremony, Mayor Irvana Wilks, various Village officials, and students and staff from Lion’s Park planted a 'Marmo' Freeman Maple tree. The students performed songs and skits about trees. Also helping with the planting were members of the Garden Club of Mount Prospect. Additionally, Public Works mascot P.W. Paws made a special appearance.

The Village also commemorated its recent receipt of the Tree City USA Award and Growth Award from the National Arbor Day Foundation. This is the 22nd consecutive year Mount Prospect has received the Tree City USA award, and the 6th time for the Growth Award, for its urban forestry program.
