South Busse Road Repaving Project
(Significant Travel Delays Expected)
UPDATE (10/18):
Starting Monday 10/20, crews will install the first of two layers of asphalt.
The final layer of asphalt and other miscellaneous work should be completed by
the first week in November, if the weather continues to cooperate.
Starting on Monday August 18, 2008 the Illinois Department of Transportation
(IDOT) will begin baser repair and resurfacing of South Busse Road, between
Golf Road and Oakton Street in Mount Prospect.
Temporary interruptions of traffic during the course of the construction
project are planned; however South Busse Road will remain open to one lane
of traffic in each direction (northbound and southbound) at all times.
Significant travel delays are anticipated during peak volume periods.
Motorists are urged to avoid South Busse Road, as well as Algonquin Road
(Rte. 62) and Dempster Street at their intersection with South Busse Road
during the entirety of the repaving project. The Mount Prospect Police
Department urges motorists to use the north/south alternative routes of
Elmhurst Road (Il.Rt.83) or Arlington Heights Road to avoid long delays.
The Mount Prospect Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be deployed in
residential neighborhoods adjacent to the South Busse Road work zone to
ensure that motorists who elect to cut-through adjacent neighborhoods
adheres to all posted speed limits and other traffic control devices
(signs). The Busse Road rehabilitation project is scheduled to be completed
on October 31, 2008.
