Want to be a Paid-On-Call Firefighter?
Mount Prospect, unlike many fire departments, still maintains a group of volunteer, or paid-on-call (POC) firefighters. The department currently has 20 POC members who meet every week to train, run drills, and support the full-time members during major incidents. To qualify to become a POC applicants must:
  • Live within the boundaries of the Village of Mount Prospect;
  • Be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age;
  • Complete a Physical Ability Examination given by the department; and
  • Pass a written examination, physical examination, and background investigation.
