During an annual fire inspection, inspectors will walk the building to ensure that the current fire and life safety codes are being met to have safe properties for all of the employees, residents, or employees.

Inspectors will check some of the following items:
  • Knox boxes with current keys.
     
  • Building address visible and 4-inches in height.
     
  • Annual certification for fire pumps, sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
     
  • Portable fire extinguishers are annually inspected and accessible.
     
  • Exit doors are in good working order and not blocked or chained.
     
  • Exit signs and emergency lighting are illuminated and working off battery back up power.
     
  • Flammable liquids are properly stored.
     
  • Extension cords are not being used and there are no open electrical junction boxes or outlets.
     
  • Ceiling tiles are in place and there are no holes in walls.
     
  • Occupancy load limits are posted.
     
  • All compressed gas cylinders are stored to prevent falling or being knocked over.
