The fire department has a fire safety trailer that is used to give residents
a “hands-on” learning experience.
As an educational vehicle, the safety trailer has the following:
- full kitchen including a stove and microwave oven to discuss appliance
safety.
- “heated” bedroom doors to have children check doors before opening them
in the event of a fire.
- theater smoke is used to have children “stay low and go” from a room
that might have smoke.
- for older students the trailer can also simulate a tornado to talk about
severe weather safety.
The fire safety trailer is available for Mount Prospect educational community
events. Please contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at (847) 818-5253 for more
details. |
