Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries!
October is National Fire Prevention Month. Fire Prevention Week marks the
anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire. That fire raged for several days and
claimed hundreds of lives and destroyed more than 17,400 structures. This
year’s theme addresses the need to prevent cooking fires with, “Watch What
You Heat”. According to the National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA)
unattended cooking is the leading cause of home cooking fire with an average
of three in ten reported home fires starting in the kitchen.
Mount Prospect Fire Department would like to remind you to make sure your
smoke detector is working. To help you remember, the Fire Department along
with Tuccio’s Fresh Italian Restaurant is going to have you TEST YOUR SMOKE
DETECTOR. During Fire Prevention Week, two registered participants a night
will be called and asked to sound their smoke detector. If their smoke
detector is working, you will receive a FREE large pizza compliments of
Tuccio’s Fresh Italian Restaurant, 106 W. Northwest Highway.
To participate in the Mount Prospect Fire Department’s “Test Your Smoke
Detector” program, complete and submit the form below. |
