In recognition of Fire Prevention week the fire department hosts a school wide poster and essay contest. The purpose of the contest is to have students either draw a poster or write a small essay on the fire prevention theme for the year. Last years theme was “Watch What You Heat”. Each year more and more students participate in this program.

Last year, Forest View School received a travel plaque for the most student participation. This travel plaque goes to the school with the most submittals of posters and essays.

Kindergarten through fifth grade design posters and sixth through eighth grade write essays. Each participant receives a ribbon and 1st – 2nd and 3rd place winners are awarded by each grade per each school.

Each first place winner is judged among every first place winner from each school in the Village. A 1st – 2nd – 3rd place winner is then recognized in front of the Village Mayor and the Village Board.

This is a wonderful evening to recognize the hard work of the students.
