INVESTIGATION OF NARCOTICS ACTIVITY
On Friday, June 10, 2011 at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Mount Prospect Police Department arrested Kevin F. Carney of the 400 block of South Main Street for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mr. Carney was in possession of approximately 195 grams of a substance that tested positive for Morphine.
Subsequent investigation led to the possibility of additional illegal narcotics activity, including a clandestine laboratory, at the home of Mr. Carney. A search warrant was authorized for his residence on June 11, 2011. The result of the search warrant was the verification of the clandestine laboratory in the basement of the home, and the seizure of approximately 122 grams of cannabis, packaging material, and a commercial pharmaceutical pill press machine coated in an unknown white powder. The home was secured due to the potential health hazard created by the clandestine lab and assistance was sought by area experts in hazardous material collection and disposal.
Mr. Carney was transported to Rolling Meadows Court House for a bond hearing on June 13, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $60,000.00 “D” by Judge Hanlan with a court date of June 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.
