In response to severe flooding that occurred on July 23, 2011 the Mount Prospect Village Board awarded an engineering services contract to Burns & McDonnell of Downers Grove, Illinois on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. The purpose of this contract was to examine the cause of flooding that occurred throughout the Village on July 23. The scope of Burns & McDonnell’s work included examining the condition and capacity of the Village’s existing sewer system as well as analyzing flood surveys and home inspections conducted by the Public Works Department.
The Village’s consulting engineer recently completed all flood study work and has presented the findings and recommendations in a flood study report. The findings and recommendations detailed in the flood study were presented to the Village Board at the Committee of the Whole meeting on April 10. Additional discussion concerning the findings and recommendations is tentativley scheduled for the May 22nd Committee of the Whole meeting.
