Public Works to Offer Electronics Recycling Drop off
Public Works to Offer Electronic Recycling Drop Off Site Starting April 9
Posted Date: 3/26/2014

Under the Illinois Product Recycling and Reuse Act, instituted on January 1, 2012, specific electronics are prohibited from being thrown away in the garbage. To assist residents with the proper management of their end-of-life electronics, the Village, in partnership with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) has established an Electronics Recycling Drop-off site at the Mount Prospect Public Works Facility.

Since 2012, the Village of Mount Prospect Public Works drop-off site has proven to be extremely successful. In total, over 181,000 pounds of electronics have been collected for recycling.

Starting, Wednesday, April 9 and continuing every Wednesday through October, Village and SWANCC member community residents can drop-off electronics at the Mount Prospect Public Works Facility. Items for recycling will only be accepted on Wednesdays between the hours of 10am – 12:00pm. Items brought to the Public Works facility outside of designated hours will not be collected.

Not all electronics  will be accepted. Please refer to the acceptable items list to see if your items will be accepted at the drop-off.
