WOMAN STRUCK BY COMMUTER TRAIN

On Thursday, April 13, 2017 at approximately 4:52 PM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Maple Street for a report of a pedestrian that was struck by outbound Metra commuter train #627. Upon arrival, officers located a female subject on the train tracks who had sustained fatal injuries as a result of being struck by the train. The preliminary investigation revealed the female, later identified as Mary A. Golembiewski, a 59 year old resident of Woodstock, IL, disobeyed the active warning devices and intentionally entered onto the railroad tracks from the pedestrian crosswalk, directly in the path of the oncoming train. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this incident.
