Electric Aggregation Update - July 2012
Posted Date: 7/10/2012

The electric aggregation opt out letters are expected to arrive in the mailboxes of residents and businesses beginning July 13-17. Residents and businesses do not have to do anything to take advantage of the reduced electric rates. The new lower rate will be effective in late August or early September.

In about three weeks, residents and busineses will receive another letter, (this one from ComEd) in which they will be asked if they want to leave ComEd as an electric service provider. Again, residents/businesses do not have to respond to the letter and will obtain the savings automatically.

MAIN POINT: DO NOTHING – SAVE MONEY

Residents that may already have electric service provided by a third party other than ComEd may change to the municipal aggregation rate by contacting First Energy at 866-636-3749. However, at the time of the call to First Energy the resident or business owner should be aware of any penalties or notice requirements that have to be met in order to switch energy providers. Any penalties or advanced notice periods are the sole responsibility of the resident or business owner and the Village has no authority to alter those terms.

Finally, you may have already received a solicitation letter from First Energy offering an individual electrical rate. This offer should be ignored since the Village aggregation rate is significantly lower than the individual rate offered.
