UPDATE: Due to complications caused by heavy rains, Busse Road is completely closed northbound at Oakton Street starting April 17. Work is expected to last approximately 2 weeks.

The Mount Prospect Police Department is issuing a traffic alert for motorists who travel Busse Road at Algonquin Road. Due to a sewer collapse, two (2) northbound lanes of Busse Road are closed at Algonquin Road. Left turns from northbound Busse Road to westbound Algonquin Road are prohibited during the duration of the lane closures. In addition, periodic lane closures on southbound Busse Road south of Algonquin Road can be expected. Traffic flow in the area is extremely constricted and slow moving during rush hour periods.
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, the agency with jurisdiction over the collapsed sewer line, is on scene assessing the situation and developing a plan to complete repairs.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to find alternate routes as lane closures on Busse Road may last as long as three (3) weeks in duration.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to drive east or west to either Elmhurst Road or Arlington Heights Road via Algonquin Road and Oakton Street to bypass the area impacted by the work being conducted by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. MAP
