Network Administrator
Information Technology Division

Mount Prospect is a thriving suburb five miles north of O'Hare International Airport and 22 miles from downtown Chicago, located on the Union Pacific Northwest Metra Line. The Village, population of 56,350 with approximately 300 full-time employees, seeks an experienced and professional candidate for the position of Network Administrator within the Village's Information Technology Division.

This position requires a motivated individual with excellent technical and customer service skills.

Duties include supporting users, and configuring, installing and maintaining hardware and software, such as such as personal computers, servers, system software, software applications, printers, servers, and cabling.

Requirements include a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Office (including Access), Symantec Anti-virus, and Symantec Backup Exec. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, Hansen, Firehouse, telephone systems, and scripting techniques is a plus.

Completion of an Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college is required with major course work in computer science or a closely related field or equivalent work experience. Four or more years of progressively responsible experience in a network administration, database administration and user support is required.

Building Inspector
Community Development Department

Mount Prospect is a thriving suburb five miles north of O'Hare International Airport and 22 miles from downtown Chicago, located on the Union Pacific Northwest Metra Line. The Village, population 56,350 with approximately 300 full-time employees, seeks a professional candidate for the position of Building Inspector within the Village's Community Development Department. The position is responsible for supporting functions of the Building Division including: inspection activities; enforcement of building codes; maintaining building records; and customer service.

This position requires equivalent of a high school diploma supplemented by technical or college level courses in building construction, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering, or related areas. Must possess ICC/BOCA certifications regarding the following: One and Two Family Dwelling Inspector, Building Inspector, or Building Plans Examination. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Illinois motor vehicle license. Experience in building or inspection field a must, with municipal experience preferred.

This position reports directly to the Building Commissioner. The ideal candidate will have strong construction and code knowledge; interpersonal, written, verbal, and computer skills are a must. Candidates must be able to read and understand blueprints, resolve complaints, work effectively with building professionals, village staff, and the general public. Plan review experience a plus.

Hiring salary range $50,000 to $60,000 DOQ. Excellent benefits. Qualified candidates are subject to a background check including motor vehicle report and drug/physical testing. The work responsibilities that are a normal and customary in this position call for physically demanding activities in visual and physical inspection. This position requires the ability to conduct inspections in potentially hazardous areas and in inclement weather with a necessity .

Development Review Planner
Community Development

The Village of Mount Prospect Community Development Department is seeking a Development Review Planner for the Community Development Department, Planning Division.  This position is responsible for coordinating the development of commercial and residential planning projects, conducting the Village’s development review process on submitted proposals, administering and enforcing the Village zoning ordinances, and implementing the comprehensive plan. 
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Planning and Development, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or closely related field, along with a minimum of two years experience in a government planning office at a professional level. Master’s degree and AICP certification are preferred or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: participating in the development of plans for land use, analyzing traffic movement studies, creating maps, charts, sketches and plans that illustrate proposed development designs, conducting pre-construction meetings with homeowners, architects and commercial developers, review Building Permit applications to ensure zoning compliance, facilitate the Business License review process, explain zoning projects, prepare staff reports for public hearings and memos for Village Board meetings, review development proposals, assess the impact of development proposals on the Village’s comprehensive plan, attend and speak at Public Hearings, and perform various duties as assigned.

Seasonal Summer Intern
Television Services

The Village of Mount Prospect Television Services Division is seeking two (2) TV Services Interns. The duration of the positions will be approximately 10-12 continuous weeks.

Basic knowledge of in-studio and or remote shooting, non-linear editing is required and knowledge of Avid non-linear editing is desired. The intern(s) must be able to work independently and be able to work with all levels of business and public contacts. Other responsibilities include television production, limited general office duties, and production of several programs of various lengths. The intern(s) shall work with the Cable Production Coordinator, Community Producer and Production Assistant in completing assignments. The intern candidates must be full-time students registered in a broadcast arts program. The positions pay $7.00 per hour and require a minimum of a 20 hour work week.
