This year, the program theme is “The Sweetness of Friendship.” Millie’s Hallmark window display will feature a North Pole theme and the plush animals available for adoption include small, medium and large polar bears as well as baby seals. Prices range from $5 - $40.

Secret agent James Bond has been thrilling moviegoers and readers for half a century. Author Raymond Benson, who has penned six Bond novels, will present an in-depth, audiovisual exploration of “007” and the character’s creator, Ian Fleming. Benson will also describe the excitement of serving as an official writer for the James Bond novel series. Copies of Benson’s novels will be available for purchase and signing following the program. Participants will learn about pacing, dialogue, action, and other key storytelling elements, and then have the chance to letter a page from a real comic book! December 5 Mount Prospect Historical Society Christmas Housewalk
Tickets for the 21st Annual Christmas Housewalk are now on sale Monday, November 3. The tour, scheduled for 3:30-9 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 5, along Bobby Lane, Lincoln Street and Cleven Avenue, will feature homes decorated for the holidays by their owners, with additional floral arrangements and décor provided by area florists.

Tickets will be available for purchase at local businesses and the MPHS museum. Tickets are $20 per person in advance ($18 for members -- at the museum only) and $22 on the day of the walk. Contact www.mtphist.org or 847/392-9006 for more information.

Village of Mount Prospect Winter Festival Parade
The Village of Mount Prospect is hosting the 9th Annual Winter Festival Parade in downtown Mount Prospect on the evening of Saturday, December 6. The parade is one of Mount Prospect’s favorite events. Participants will include organizations, youth groups, merchants, churches and schools. Carolers will be stationed along the parade route. Downtown holiday lights will be sparkling and store windows will be decorated. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Even Santa, Mrs. Claus and live reindeer will be on hand!

Folk musician Steve Justman brings a lively and inviting performance of traditional American folk music to the Library’s December Senior Session. Justman has been performing Americana music (folk, country rock, bluegrass) throughout Chicago for many years and is known for his guitar, banjo, bass, and vocal talents. He has performed at many of Chicago’s best folk and acoustic venues and has appeared live on Rick Kogan’s Sunday Papers show on WGN radio. Registration is required. Garvin Gardens’ own Peggy Garvin will guide you as you create your own decorative holiday masterpiece during this holiday craft workshop. Combine mixed greens and holly, a candle, velvet ribbon, and a glass ball into a festive centerpiece that will brighten your home for the holidays. Bring a pruner and your holiday spirit.
