All of the water meters in the Village of Mount Prospect water service area are located inside your home or business, customers will be required to make an appointment.

Step 1: The Village will mail an initial informational letter to all customers. This letter will be mailed to all Village of Mount Prospect water customers. The informational letter will explain the program and will include a set of frequently asked questions.

Step 2: Approximately two to four weeks after receiving the informational letter the contractor will mail the initial appointment notification letter. The letter, which will be on Village letterhead, will request that you schedule an appointment with the Village’s installation contractor Professional Meter, Inc. (PMI).

Step 3: We ask that you call the toll free number within ten days of receiving the appointment notification letter and schedule an appointment.

Step 4: The date of installation arrives. A PMI representative will arrive at the scheduled appointment time to install the new automated meter read equipment. The PMI representative will arrive in vehicle emblazoned with the PMI logo and the Village of Mount Prospect Easy Read logo. The PMI representative will also wear a PMI uniform. If you have questions concerning the validity of an installer, do not hesitate to contact the Public Works department.

If the installer does not arrive in a PMI vehicle, uniform or have a PMI/Easy Read identification badge you should refuse entry.

An adult 18 years of age or older must be present, otherwise the installer will not enter the home. Additionally, please secure pets and provide five feet of clearance around the meter.

Step 5: The installer will complete the installation process, which should take less than 30 minutes. Once the installation is complete the installer will leave a card that explains what was done.

Step 6: Enjoy your new hassle free automated read meter.
