The Village of Mount Prospect Is A Vibrant Community...
located 22 miles from downtown Chicago and just minutes from both O'Hare International Airport, the world's busiest, and the much smaller Palwaukee Airport which services many corporate and private aircraft. Established as a farming community soon after The Great Chicago Fire and incorporated in 1917, Mount Prospect is currently home to over 56,265 residents as well as several major corporations including Albany Molecular, Braun Manufacturing, Caremark, Cummins-Allison, Hyundai, NTN Bearing, Nutrasweet, Sayers Computing and United Stationers. Mount Prospect has matured into a dynamic community of tree-lined neighborhoods, retail centers both large and small and architecturally pleasing light industrial/office complexes.
Of The People, For The People.... Mount Prospect operates under the Council/Manager form of government. The appointed manager administers daily operations within the community while the elected Village President and Board of Trustees determine Village policy. Seven different departments and divisions including public works, finance, police, fire, community development, human services and communications handle the day-to-day operations of the Village. The departments are staffed by professionals with the foremost training and education and who are highly recognized in their respective fields. Citizen participation in local government is also actively encouraged. The Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic Development Commission and Special Events Commission are made up of volunteers from the business and residential communities. The business community regularly interacts with the Village through the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce. The Village's award winning government access cable channel televises meetings of the Village Board and Planning and Zoning Commission, providing the community with a unique open access to its government.
