Village Profile - Business

Transportation
Location, Location, Location...
Mount Prospect offers its business community numerous transportation options. Strategically located along the Union Pacific METRA rail line for easy access to Chicago, Mount Prospect is six miles northwest of O'Hare International Airport. The Village is also surrounded by major roadways and interstates (I-294, I-90, Routes 14, 83,12 and 53/355) and served by regional PACE bus service. A second commuter rail line, the Wisconsin Central, provides service to businesses and residents on the north end of the Village.

Business Environment
Diverse And Healthy!
A myriad of businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to family-owned establishments are proud to call Mount Prospect "home." The Village's diverse, healthy business climate is augmented and maintained through initiatives between the Village and Chamber of Commerce. These initiatives include business retention and attraction efforts, business assistance programs and economic development initiatives.

The pleasant park-like atmosphere and contemporary architectural style of the 300-acre Kensington Business Center attracts numerous high-profile corporations and has earned it the distinction as a premiere business/industrial center. The park is enhanced by more than 12 handsomely landscaped lakes, winding jogging trails, recreational park and picnic areas. The park's proximity to O'Hare Airport and to a high caliber labor pool has made the Kensington Business Center one of the most attractive business locations in the Chicago Metropolitan area.

The Village's second largest industrial district, Lake Center Corporate Park, offers unique "build to suit" opportunities for office/manufacturing facilities. The park's established and diverse neighborhood provides businesses with the support services necessary to succeed. This master planned business park has been fully improved with landscaping and public infrastructure that is designed to support a variety of uses.

Shopping
Variety Is The Spice!
Mount Prospects retail sector offers an excellent variety of goods to consumers throughout the Village and beyond. Mount Prospect is home to the 1.3 million square foot Randhurst Shopping Center, the first enclosed regional shopping center in the area, as well as numerous smaller centers and neighborhood stores. The Village's retail stores have excellent exposure along major arterials, and serve a market area which covers much of the region. The gross leasable area within the Village comprises more than 2.5 million square feet.
