Each year the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission honors individuals and organizations that help to make our community a great place in which to live and work. We honor them as Shining Stars and recognize them at a gala Celestial Celebration banquet. The 17th annual Celestial Celebration will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010.

The Shining Star Awards are made on the basis of nomination by community leaders; by business people; by plain, ordinary residents; and by men and women who work here – people interested in the community – people like you.

In the links on the right you will find a list and description of the 2010 award categories. The award categories cover a wide range of interest areas and are designed especially to seek out individuals who do things that often go unnoticed. If the person you are thinking of doesn’t fit one of the categories, don’t worry. The last category can be whatever you think it should be.

You can either submit your nomination electronically or by mail.

A Selection Committee representing a cross-section of the village reviews the nominations and determines the ultimate award winners. The winners are selected in early December and will be announced shortly thereafter.

Nominations must be in writing and received no later than midnight, Thursday, November 19, 2009.
