The Metra Commuter Rail Union Pacific Northwest Line runs through and has a station in Downtown Mount Prospect. The station is located on Northwest Highway between Emerson Street and Route 83/Elmhurst Rd.

There are several village-owned commuter parking lots in the downtown area: Northwest Highway and Route 83 - both east and west lots and Maple Street lot at the corner of Maple and Prospect Ave. View Map

The daily parking fee is $1.50. The Village lots utilize an automated payment system. Machines are located in each lot. The machines do not dispense change, so you either need exact change, or a special parking debit card. The debit cards are available for purchase in the train depot, and the card can be charged up to $60.

• The automated pay boxes accept coins, bills and parking debit cards.
• There are five conveniently located automated pay boxes.
• The rate for daily parking will increase to $1.50.
• Debit cards can be purchased at a vending station in the train station.
• Debit cards can be recharged for any amount (up to $60 max.) at any automated pay box.
• The automated pay boxes DO NOT GIVE CHANGE. The automated pay boxes do not accept credit cards or bank debit cards.
• YOU MUST keep all parking receipts. The Village will NOT issue refunds without adequate documentation (receipts).

What to do if:

You have been issued a parking citation but paid for the parking space:

• Mail your receipt along with the parking ticket to the Mount Prospect Police Department (112 E. Northwest Hwy., Mount Prospect, IL 60056)

Your debit card does not work:

• Bring your debit card and all receipts since the last time your debit card was replenished to the Mount Prospect Finance Department (50 S. Emerson Street).
