With its roots in agriculture, Mount Prospect has been attracting viable businesses since it incorporated in 1917. Today, Mount Prospect offers the business community the right location for success being just 22 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and minutes away from O’Hare International and Chicago Executive airports. Corporations soon discover a full range of outstanding business locations such as the established Kensington Business Park to the newly renovated Randhurst Village, the mixed-use downtown to light industrial properties located on the southern edge of the Village and Interstate 90. Retailers also have a choice of 26 shopping centers found along major corridors including Northwest Highway/Route 14, Rand Road/ Route 12 and other commercial arterial roads.

The Village works closely with the business community to foster a positive business climate. Staff members from Community Development facilitate existing business expansion and work to attract new business. Elected officials along with volunteers from the Economic Development Commission visit business leaders throughout the year to engage in a dialogue that addresses the needs and wants of business owners and how the Village can best serve them.

Close to 100,000 people work within a 3-mile radius of downtown Mount Prospect and the average household income is $80,755 within that same area.
