Police Department Investigates Pedestrian Struck by Commuter Train

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY COMMUTER TRAIN

On Thursday, November 17, 2016 at approximately 7:02 AM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks near the intersection of Northwest Highway (Route 14) and Louis Street for a report of a pedestrian that was struck by inbound Metra commuter train #608. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject on the train tracks who had sustained fatal injuries as a result of being struck by the train. The preliminary investigation revealed the male, 32 years old from Des Plaines, intentionally entered onto the railroad tracks directly in the path of the oncoming train. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this incident.

At this time, the identity of the male is being withheld upon the request from his family.
