Post Date:11/07/2016 5:30 PM
At approximately 9:11 p.m. on November 6, 2016, Mount Prospect firefighters were called for a reported structure fire located on the 1800 Block of Tano Lane. Upon arrival, Mount Prospect firefighters were confronted with heavy fire coming from the rear of a single-family home. The fire was brought under control in approximately 45 minutes. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. The damage was estimated at $300,000. The fire was contained to the structure of origin and did not spread to adjoining homes. Firefighters from Glenview, Prospect Heights, and the Mount Prospect Fire Department assisted in bringing the fire under control. No injuries were reported.

Chief Brian Lambel stated there were several ongoing calls at the same time this particular incident was dispatched. Mount Prospect Station 14 (Kensington and River Road) apparatus were already assigned to a life critical call when the fire was dispatched. The Fire Department relied heavily on its mutual and auto aid partners for this fire. This partnership allowed for the closest fire apparatus from adjoining communities to respond and assist Engine 13 and Tower 13 from the downtown Mount Prospect Station 13 (Northwest Highway and Maple Street).

There was significant damage caused to this home and the firefighters were able to contain it from spreading to adjoining properties using a coordinated exterior and interior attack. The occupants of the home executed all the proper steps that need to be taken during a fire, which allowed them to evacuate quickly.
