Mount Prospect’s Local Manufacturer GAM Represents Entrepreneurial Success

Post Date:08/25/2016 4:30 PM
On August 25, 2016, Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene A. Juracek and Congressman Bob Dold were invited to tour GAM, a Mount Prospect manufacturer that is located in the Kensington Business Center at 901 E. Business Center Drive. As a small, privately owned manufacturer, GAM specializes in producing gearboxes and couplings used in automation technology. Over the past 15 years, GAM has been able to average a 15% growth. In the last two years alone, GAM has increased its workforce from 18 to 28 people, many of whom are highly-skilled and highly-educated.

Mayor Juracek said, “GAM is an example of success that can be achieved when the entrepreneurial spirit takes advantage of today’s high-tech world.”

GAM Chief Executive Officer Gary A. Michalek said he chose Mount Prospect for its accessibility and location. GAM is a niche market looking to grow and excited about the future. “From a product standpoint, we develop a customized product in small quantities at an affordable price,” Michalek said. “We sell on our engineering expertise to develop a customized product.”

The facility is not a traditional factory, but one where a variety of roles can be performed simultaneously by their skilled workforce on cutting-edge machines. GAM is a U.S. owned and operated manufacturer that provides innovative products to a global market.
