On Thursday, May 19, 2016 at approximately 7:33 AM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to Lincoln Middle School, 700 West Lincoln Street, Mount Prospect, for a report of a suspicious male subject who had stopped his vehicle and asked a 13 year old juvenile if he needed a ride.

At approximately 7:25 AM, a 13 year old juvenile was walking in the area of Council Trail and NaWaTa Avenue on the way to school, when a black SUV style vehicle was driving by on Council Trail. The vehicle stopped after passing the juvenile and backed up to the juvenile. The male driver rolled down the driver’s side window and asked the juvenile if he needed a ride. The juvenile said no and ran all the way to Lincoln Middle School, where he reported the encounter immediately. The vehicle drove off and did not follow the juvenile.

The vehicle is described as black SUV style vehicle with tinted windows. The male driver is described as a white male, approximately 50-60 years old, black and gray hair, black shirt, who spoke with a Middle Eastern accent.

The Mount Prospect Police Department urges parents and children living in this area to be extra vigilant in the days ahead and to call 9-1-1 immediately should a subject and/or vehicle matching this description be observed. The Mount Prospect Police Department will have an increased presence in the area.

Additionally, the Mount Prospect Police Department urges parents to use this incident as an opportunity to review safety rules with their children and to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately by dialing 9-1-1.
