Police Department Warns Residents of Residential Burglaries
MOUNT PROSPECT POLICE DEPARTMENT WARNS RESIDENTS OF RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
The Mount Prospect Police Department is investigating several residential burglaries throughout the Village which have occurred between June 7 and July 14, 2014. These residential burglaries have occurred both at single family homes, as well as apartments at various times throughout the day and evening. Entry was gained to some of these homes through an unlocked door or window. Items being targeted in these residential burglaries have been jewelry and money.
The Mount Prospect Police Department requests all residents be extra vigilant and report any suspicious persons, cars or activity in their neighborhood by calling 9-1-1 immediately. Residents are reminded to lock their doors and windows and are asked to turn on their interior and exterior lights, as this is still the most cost effective form of prevention. Leaving televisions or radios on while not at home to create noise can also help prevent burglars from targeting your home.
The Mount Prospect Police Department Crime Prevention Unit will be hosting two home security presentations highlighting ways to make your home less desirable to burglars. The presentations will be held on Wednesday, July 30th at 9:30 A.M. and again at 7:00 P.M. in meeting room A of the Mount Prospect Public Library.
Any individual with specific knowledge of these crimes is encouraged to call the Investigations Section of the Mount Prospect Police Department at (847) 870-5654. Additionally, individuals can make anonymous tips by calling CRIME STOPPERS at (847) 590-7867 or texting MPPD plus their tip to 274637. Tips through CRIME STOPPERS are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for any information leading to an arrest and prosecution.
